Message from the Chairman:
At the July meeting of Colwinston Community Council, two planning matters of significance for the village were discussed. It was agreed that village meetings should be arranged to discuss both these applications so that Councillors could be better informed about the views of residents before responding formally to the applications.
The first meeting will take place at 7.30pm on Tuesday July 23rd in the Village Hall and concerns an application to demolish the existing buildings at Waterton Lodge and replace them with 45 houses of varying sizes. The plans submitted to the Vale of Glamorgan can be viewed on their website under reference 2013/00602/OUT. The Community Council will make a response about the application to the Vale by July 30th
The second meeting will take place on Monday August 19th, again at 7.30pm in the Village Hall and is to discuss a forthcoming application from G2 to erect a single wind turbine some 80 metres high on land belonging to Mr MB Jones Farm at Corntown. The turbine would be about 400 metres from the nearest properties in the Colwinston. G2 have not yet submitted a planning application but intend to do so shortly. Representatives of G2 made a presentation to the Community Council in June and it is hoped that they will be able to attend this village meeting.
